Located in West Java, Indonesia, Turtles is an excellent reef break that offers up a bowling left-hander perfect for ripping into as well as the occasional barrel when it gets bigger. The waves here are not always easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef. Watch out for the man-made hazards on the inside.
What are the best surf conditions for Turtles?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will get busy at times (5/10). The best winds are from the East or Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. In the summer water temperatures rise to 29 degrees before falling only to 25 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
