Located in West Java, Tingil Island is home to a decent left reef setup that picks up a lot of swell but is not amazing often. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 200 meters, barreling hard over a coral reef. The island itself is off-limits, it is home to a very carefully controlled population of long-tailed macaques.
What are the best surf conditions for Tingil Island?
Gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally be absolutely empty (1/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works best on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures vary between 29 and 25. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
