Located in Northeast Puerto Rico, Leeward Islands, Tocones is a pretty good reef break that offers up some speedy, punchy barrels both left and right when the conditions line up. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a shallow coral reef. Be chill to the locals and they will be chill to you.
What are the best surf conditions for Tocones?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is consistent (6/10) and will generally have a crew surfing it (7/10). South winds are good. North and Northeast swells are best. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures range between 29 and 26. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
