Located in West Java, Indonesia, right in front of a losmen which happens to be the namesake of the break, Mama’s is a fun left-hand reef break that offers up some decent tubes when the conditions are lined up. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef. It will be busy due to ease of access.
What are the best surf conditions for Mama’s?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures rise to 29 in the summer before dropping only to 25 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
