Located in Piura, Peru, Lobitos is one of the many perfect left point breaks that Peru has to offer. When the sand fills in right between the rocks, the wave turns into a high-performance wall when smaller and a barrel at size. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 300 meters (984 feet) over a rock and sand bottom. The lineup vibes can be a bit heavy.
What are the best surf conditions for Lobitos?
Lobitos gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally have a crew on it (7/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, West, and Northwest. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 23°C (73°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best as water temps drop to about 18°C (64°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
