Located in Piura, Peru, El Hueco is an excellent, heavy, heaving left-hand reef that offers up one of the best barrels in Peru. The waves here are gnarly, breaking for up to 150 meters (492 feet) over a shallow rock bottom. Best be confident in your tube riding abilities to surf here.
What are the best surf conditions for El Hueco?
El Hueco gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and then stepping up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will keep a small but talented crew (5/10). The best winds are from the southeast. The best swells are from the south, southwest, and west. El Hueco works on a low tide.
