Located in Piura, Peru, Punta Restin is a fun left-hand point break that offers up sectiony but barreling waves. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock bottom. Wind is usually the problem here.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Restin?
Punta Restin gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Southwest and West. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 23°C (73°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best as water temps drop to about 18°C (64°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
