Located in Piura, Peru, El Nuro is a fun left-hand reef break that offers up some rippable and crumbly walls when the Northern swells hit. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock and sand bottom. You’ll need a 4WD to get here.
What are the best surf conditions for El Nuro?
El Nuro gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the southeast. The best swells are from the north and northwest. El Nuro works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 23°C (73°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 18°C (64°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
