Located in Piura, Peru, Mancora is a fun left-hand point break that offers up rolling long walls and at times some hollow barrels. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 200 meters (656 feet) over a rock and sand bottom. There are lots of surf shops, nightlife, and accommodation.
What are the best surf conditions for Mancora?
Mancora gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the southeast. The best swells are from the northwest, southwest, and west. Mancora works best on an incoming tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 23°C (73°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 18°C (64°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
