Located on the island of Kauai in the Pacific Ocean, Tunnels is a quality big wave reef that offers up massive waves for the experienced surfer. Come prepared, these waves require knowledge, experience, and skill to conquer, breaking for up to 200 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Tunnels?
Gets good between overhead and tow in size. We recommend bringing a step-up, rhino chaser, gun, or tow in board depending on the day. This break is suitable for advanced-level surfers only. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will get busy when it’s really on (5/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are big and from the North, Northeast, and Northwest. Works on a mid to high tide.
