Located in Sumbawa, Indonesia, Lakey Peak is an excellent a frame reef break that offers up both rippable walls and barrels. The right tends to be a bit punchier and more open, but the left is a bit longer. The waves here can get heavy and break for up to 50 meters both ways over a coral reef. The left is better at a lower tide, and the right prefers a higher. On bigger swells a mid to high tide is good for both sides.
What are the best surf conditions for Lakey Peak?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard then shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer, although beginners should stay away once it gets bigger than chest high. The surf here is very consistent (8/10) and will be quite crowded at times (8/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round. Water temperatures range from 28 to 25 year round. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
