Located in La Côte Basque, France, Belharra Perdun is an excellent big wave reef break that creates a perfect A-frame when a massive swell hits. This break has produced an XXL contest-winning wave, making it renowned for epic surf conditions. The waves here are extreme, breaking for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a shoal bottom and producing some massive walls of water.
What are the best surf conditions for Belharra Perdun?
It gets good from overhead to tow-in size. We recommend riding a gun or getting towed in here. This break is suitable only for advanced and pro surfers. The surf here rarely breaks (1/10) and is not crowded when it does (1/10). The best winds are from the southeast. The best swells are from the north, northwest, and west. It works on low and mid tides.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21°C (70°F). In winter, a 5/4 wetsuit is the call when water temperatures drop to 12°C (54°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
