Located right on the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Hut Gulley (also known as Guvvos beach) is a fun and punchy beach break with a sandy bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and can break for up to 100 meters, providing fun sections for manoeuvres as well as barrels if the conditions line up.
What are the best surf conditions for Hut Gulley?
Gets good between waist high and overhead. We recommend riding your longboard, standard shortboard, or step up when bigger here. All levels of surfers can find success and fun here. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and can get ridiculously crowded when it is good, especially on weekends and holidays (9/10). The best winds for Hut Gulley are Northwest, and it works on all tides. The best swell direction is from the Southwest.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in summer with the warmest water temperature a brisk 16 degrees in February. In winter we recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit with temps being a brisk 12 degrees! See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
