More on Torquay
Off of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, you will find the town of Torquay. Here there is a fun, mellow right reef/point break that rolls over a sand and rock bottom. The waves here are easy to surf while breaking for up to 100 meters. This provides plenty of opportunities to improve your surf skills, cruise on a longboard, or put down some turns. One must be aware that Torquay is a hotspot for crowds in the summer, as hordes of vacationers descend on the town and beach, but fear not, the surf is better in the winter anyway. There are a few other waves in the area, but none as good as the point. There are also opportunities for wind and kite surfing in the area.
