Located on the Great Ocean Road to the West of Torquay, Anglesea is small tourist town with a fun, sandy beach break. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and can break for up to 100 meters, providing sections for turns and airs. There are a couple other waves in the area, including a rivermouth and inconsistent reef break.
What are the best surf conditions for Anglesea?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding your longboard or standard shortboard here. Anglesea is best suited to beginner to advanced surfers. The beach is decently consistent (5/10) but will be busy over weekends and holidays (5/10). The best winds for Anglesea are Northwest. The best swell direction is from the Southwest, and it works on all tides depending on the sandbars.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in summer with the warmest water temperature a brisk 16 degrees in February. In winter we recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit with temps being a brisk 12 degrees! See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
