Located on the Southern coast South of Adelaide, The Dump is a fun reef break serving up mostly rights over a rock bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf (but can get strong when it’s bigger) and break for up to 100 meters providing lovely, sloping walls perfect for any manoeuvre you can craft up (except for getting barreled).
What are the best surf conditions for The Dump?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend a longboard for when it’s smaller and a shortboard for when the size picks up. The Dump is best for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is semi-consistent (5/10) but will get busy when it’s good (5/10), although the best surfers will probably be elsewhere. The best winds are offshore from the Northeast, it works on all tides, and the best swells come from the South, Southeast, and Southwest.
We recommend a 3/2 in the winter with water temps hovering around 17 degrees in February. In winter a 4/3 is required as the water temperatures drop to 14 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
