Located on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Narrowneck is a quality reef that breaks over a reef and sand bottom. The reef here is artificial, created to try and help solve the overcrowding problems on the coast. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing some great sections for manoeuvres.
What are the best surf conditions for Narroneck?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. A longboard will work great here when a bit smaller and a shortboard is best when bigger. Narrowneck is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. This spot handles junky, onshore days much better than other waves in the area. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and can get busy on weekends and holidays (5/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells come from the East, Northeast, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 27 degrees. In the winter the attire is the same as the water temps only drop to around 22 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
