Located in New South Wales, Australia, Boulder Beach is an excellent reef/point set up that offers up long barreling right-handers when the conditions line up. The waves here can be fast and challenging, breaking for up to 100 meters over a rock and sand bottom. This is a good option for those looking for a slight reprieve from the crowds in Lennox and Byron.
What are the best surf conditions for Boulder Beach?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard then step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10). The crowds are hit and miss, sometimes packed sometimes uncrowded, and weekends aren’t good (7/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the Southeast. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 is best when water temperatures drop to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
