The Pass is an excellent long sandy point break east of Byron Bay town centre. Far from a secret, this beautiful right-hander is the domain of locals and plenty of visitors. A very long right hand, sand bottom point. The waves here require a bit of surf skill if you’re taking off behind ht rock and can break for up to 200 meters, providing fun sections for manoeuvres. If you aren’t up for the hassle then you can pick a spot further down the line to catch waves that section off and shut down some surfers. The inside bank is also an ideal place to learn to surf as it is a smooth sand bottom and easy to stand.
