Located on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa, Milnerton is a fun little beach break with breathtaking views that offers up decent surf more days than not. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom. Locals are nice but be respectful.
What are the best surf conditions for Milnerton?
It gets good from waist-high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is good for all levels of surfer. The surf here is very consistent (8/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Southwest, but it has an open swell window. It works best on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 19°C (66°F). In winter, a 4/3 is best when temps drop to 15°C (59°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
