Located in the Thaa and Laamu Atolls, Indian Ocean, Refugee’s Lefts is a quality left hand reef set up that offers up a sectiony but rippable wall. The waves here can be a bit tricky to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Refugee’s Lefts?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. the surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best swells are from the Southeast. The best winds are from the North. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 30 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
