Located in the Thaa and Laamu Atolls, Indian Ocean, Outside Mikado is a quality right hand reef set up that offers up fast and rippable sections when the conditions line up. The waves here are straightforward to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef. Check the inside reef for easier, less critical waves.
What are the best surf condition for Outside Mikado?
Gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the South, Southeast, and Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 30 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
