Located in the Thaa and Laamu Atolls, Indian Ocean, Inside Mikado is a fun right hand reef break that offers up some short barrel sections when the conditions line up. The waves here can be a little challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Inside Mikado?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures fluctuate between 27 and 29. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
