Located in Kwazulu Natal – South, South Africa, Margate Beach is a fun beach break that offers up some rippable walls when the conditions line up. The waves here can be challenging and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Margate Beach?
Margate Beach gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard and then a step up as the size increases. This break is good for all levels of surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will always have a crew (7/10), more so in the summers though. The best winds are from the Northwest. Good swells come from the Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 27°C (80.6°F). In the winter, you can get away with the same attire as water temperatures only drop to 27°C (80.6°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
