Located in Kwazulu Natal – South, South Africa, Southbroom is an excellent right-handed sand point that offers up some fast and fun walls when the conditions line up. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 300 meters over a rock and sand bottom. Easy access off the rocks at the top of the point.
What are the best surf conditions for Southbroom?
Southbroom gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is good for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will generally have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells are big and from the South. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round here. Water temperatures range between 27°C (80.6°F) in January and 22°C (71.6°F) in winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
