Located in Kwazulu Natal – South, South Africa, Lucien is a fun stretch of beach break that is both highly consistent and of high quality on its day, serving up spitting barrels. The waves here are challenging to surf at size and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Lucien?
Lucien gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard and then a step up as the juice arrives. This break is good for all levels of surfer. The surf here is super consistent (9/10) and will usually have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round here. Water temperatures range between 27°C (80.6°F) in January and 22°C (71.6°F) in winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
