Located in Gran Canaria North, El Paso is a quality big wave reef break that offers up some big, sketchy barrel sections when the conditions line up. The waves here are not for the lesser skilled surfers and break for up to 200 meters over a rock and sand bottom. Holds good size thru tow-in size.
What are the best surf conditions for El Paso?
Gets good at triple overhead plus. We recommend riding a gun or tow board depending on size. This break is suitable for advanced surfers. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will have a small crew when it does (5/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 22 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 is best when water temperatures drop to 17. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
