Located in Gran Canaria, El Fronton is an excellent mutant slab break that offers a deep and wrenching pit perfect for bodyboarders. The waves here are not for the faint-hearted and break for up to 150 meters over a reef bottom. There is a left that is a little less perfect than the right which is surfed more often. This is an incredibly difficult wave to surf, much more suited to spongers.
What are the best surf conditions for El Fronton?
Gets good between double and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up here. This break is best suited to advanced and professional surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and can get busy at times (5/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, and West. Works on a mid-tide.
We recommend wearing a springsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 22 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 is best when water temps drop to 17 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
