Located in Gran Canaria North, La Barra-Las Canteras is a fun series of reef breaks that offer up barreling rides over shallow rock. The waves here can be heavy and break for up to 150 meters over a rocky reef. It takes a decent paddle to reach the lineup, a popular spot with boogies.
What are the best surf conditions for La Barra- Las Canteras?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and can get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, and West. Needs at least a mid-tide but is best on high.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 22 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 is best when water temperatures drop to 17. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
