Located in Mamanucas and Viti Levu, Restaurants, often referred to as Cloudbreak’s little brother, is a world-class left-hand reef break that sits right in front of the dining area at Tavarua Resort. This break is a playful skatey left-hander with long rippable walls and machine-like barrels. When Cloudbreak is maxed out, Restaurants is the place to be as it’s always a bit smaller. The average wavelength is 50-150m with barrels up to 13 seconds long not unheard of. The waves here can be very tricky to surf and break over a shallow coral reef best avoided at low.
What are the best surf conditions for Restaurants?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will usually have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini all year. Water temperatures stick between 27 and 24. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
