Located in Mamanucas and Viti Levu, Desperations is an ultra consistent offshore reef that offers up both a left and right barrel when the conditions line up. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 150 meters over a coral reef. This spot will be breaking when no other spot is. There is no paddling channel and watch out for rips.
What are the best surf conditions for Desperations?
Gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is consistent (8/10) and will always have a crew on it (7/10). The best winds are from the North and Northeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on all tides except dead low or high.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini all year. Water temperatures stick between 27 and 24. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
