Located in Mamanucas and Viti Levu, Tavarua Rights is easily one of the best waves in the South Pacific. This wave used to be reserved for guests of Tavarua resort but since the government opened up the rights it’s now available for everyone to surf! You just need to organise a boat from one of the local resorts. Tavarua Rights offer up a perfect right hand barrel. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 200 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Tavarua Rights?
Gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller then a shortboard and step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest, the reef won’t work on any other swell direction. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini all year. Water temperatures stick between 27 and 24. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
