Located in Galicia, Santa Maria de Oia is an excellent left hand reef break that offers up a heaving barrel when the conditions are right. The waves here are heavy, do not surf here unless your chops are up. They break for up to 100 meters over a rock bottom which can be dangerously shallow at times. Needs a sizable swell to break.

Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up here as the size picks up. This break is suitable only for advanced. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and the lineup is only crowded with experienced locals (4/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Northwest. Works best on a mid to high tide.
