Located in Kwazulu Natal – South, South Africa, Green Point is an excellent right-hand point break that offers up some high-quality performance-based walls when a big swell hits. It works on smaller swells too but gets classic when a bigger one hits. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 300 meters (984 feet) over a rock bottom. No nets up, watch out for sharks.
What are the best surf conditions for Green Point?
Green Point gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if small and a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is good for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will usually have a crew on it on weekends, although it can be uncrowded on the weekdays (6/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South and Southeast. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round here. Water temperatures range between 27°C (80.6°F) in January and 22°C (71.6°F) in winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
