Located on the West side of Oahu, Hawaii, Yokohama is a classic Oahu beach with two reefs that offer up a barreling left and right. The left is heavy and breaks over very shallow rock reef. The right is also heavy but breaks over somewhat deeper reef with an easier take-off. Both offer lengthy rides of up to 200 meters over a volcanic rock reef. Camping is good here but will get crowded on weekends.
What are the best surf conditions for Yokohama?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then a step up here as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get busy mostly on weekends (5/10). Local vibes here are not bad but be nice. The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 27 ad 24. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
