Located on the North Shore of Oahu, Laniakea is a quality right-hand reef break that offers up long, rippable walls when the conditions line up. The waves here can get a bit tricky to surf with multiple different take-off zones and break for up to 200 meters over a coral reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Laniakea?
Gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. we recommend riding a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and will always have a crew on it (7/10). The best winds are from the South, Southeast, or Southwest. The best swells are from the North, Northeast, and Northwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year-round here. Water temperatures range from 27 to 24. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
