Located on the North Shore of Oahu, Boneyards is an excellent right-hand reef break that offers an intense and shallow barrel on the inside section of Backyards. The waves here are not for the faint of heart and require skill to surf well. They break for up to 100 meters over a shallow rock reef.
What are the best surf conditions for Boneyards?
Gets good between head high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is good for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Northwest. Works on all tides.
Boardshorts or bikinis are good year-round here. Water temperatures range from 24 to 27 Celsius. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
