Located in Mendocino County, California, Alder Creek is an alright beach break that offers up some clean sections for ripping or cruising in clean conditions. The waves here are heavy in the winter and it is near impossible to paddle out. It’s prone to closing out here, but the waves can break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Best to only surf here on small clean swells and good conditions.
What are the best surf conditions for Alder Creek?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here sometimes has a wave (4/10) and will be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works best on a mid to low tide.
