Located in the North Male Atolls, Indian Ocean, Jailbreaks is an excellent reef break that offers up a fast and sectiony right hander The waves here can be a bit shallow and challenging and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef. Three or four barrel rides are possible when the conditions line up. This spot is named for an old jail that was located on the island, not in use anymore.
What are the best surf conditions for Jailbreaks?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here usually has wave (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South, Southeast, and Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
