Located on the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, Dalbeg is a quality beach break that is protected by a larger headland to the north that offers up some hollow sections on most swells. Usually a bit smaller than Dalmore nearby. The waves here require surf ability to surf well and break for around 50 meters over a shifting sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Dalbeg?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard here when smaller and a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is quite consistent (7/10) and is generally uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the North, Northeast, Northwest, Southwest, and West.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 14 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temps drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
