Located in Galicia, Ponzo is a beach break that offers up some performance sections for manoeuvres when the conditions line up. These waves are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Ponzos?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will always have a crew on it, but there should be space (7/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 19 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
