Located in Beira Litoral, Portugal, Praia da Barra is an excellent beach break that offers up a good performance peak or two when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. Needs a little more swell than other spots to get working, but is better than those spots when it does.
What are the best surf conditions for Praia da Barra?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is best suited to all levels of surfer. The surf here sometimes has a wave (4/10) and will be super crowded when it is breaking (9/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 18 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temps drop to 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
