Nazaré is an excellent Beach break located in Portugal. The offshore deepwater keeps the power-up in the swell here so the waves hit the beach with open ocean force and speed. When the swell is really big it can hold it here making huge good quality 80ft beach break peaks, be warned though, they can shift a bit like most beachy peaks and a good cleanup set is highly likely. This is best left to very experienced surfers.
It is sensitive to the wind though so you’ll need a fairly still day to get clean and surfable. Bring spare boards and big kahunas. This wave is virtual suicide (pro only) and can break for up to 100 meters, serving up some powerful sections that demand respect.
What are the best surf conditions for Nazaré?
Gets good above triple overhead+. Mostly a tow in wave when it gets solid. We recommend riding your gun or the largest board in your quiver, hell bring out you’re tow board and a jet ski if you have one! Nazaré in Beira Litoral is best suited to pro surfers. The surf here is hardly breaks (2/10) and can get busy when it’s on (5/10). The best winds for Nazaré are East. The best swell direction is from the North, Northwest, Southwest and West
