Located in Beira Litoral, Portugal, Espinho is an excellent right-point break that offers up long fast waves that usually have a barrel section or two. The waves here are tricky to surf and break for up to 200 meters over a sand bottom before closing out over shallow rocks.
What are the best surf conditions for Espinho?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard or step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will get insanely crowded with tourists and locals alike (10/10). The best winds are from the East. the best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on low to mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 18 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temps drop to 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
