Located in Gironde, France, Le Truc Vert is a fun beach break known for delivering some excellent barrels when conditions are right. The waves here can be tricky, breaking for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom. Its popularity is partly due to the massive campground bearing the same name.
What are the best surf conditions for Le Truc Vert?
It gets good from waist-high to double overhead. A longboard works well when the waves are smaller, while a shortboard is recommended as the size increases. This break is suitable for surfers of all levels. The surf here is fairly consistent (6/10) and can become insanely crowded, especially in summer (10/10). The best winds are from the east. The best swells are from the northwest, southwest, and west. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21°C (70°F). In winter, with temperatures dropping to 11°C (52°F), a 5/4 wetsuit is best. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
