Located in Biarritz/Anglet, France, Marinella is a quality beach break known for providing excellent waves throughout the year. The waves here are relatively easy to surf and can stretch for over 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom. Like many beaches in Anglet, Marinella can deliver either magical or mediocre conditions depending on sand distribution and wind patterns. Peaks tend to form around the jetties, offering steep shoulders and the occasional pit, with medium W-NW swells and any E wind being ideal.
What are the best surf conditions for Marinella?
Marinella gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when the waves are smaller and switching to a shortboard as the size increases. This beach is suitable for surfers of all levels. The surf here typically has a wave rating of 5/10 and can become ridiculously crowded, especially due to the proximity of a youth hostel and camping facilities (9/10). The best winds are from the East, and the ideal swells are from the North, Northwest, and West. It works well on all tides.
In summer, a spring suit is recommended when water temperatures rise to 21°C (70°F). In winter, a 5/4 wetsuit is best when temperatures drop to 12°C (54°F). See the temperature chart below for more details.
The beach’s proximity to the Youth Hostel and Fontaine Laborde camping results in mega crowds and vibrant vibes, particularly during summer and autumn weekends.
