Located in West Guerrero, Mexico, Escolleras is a fun beach break that offers up a hollow right-hander off a pier when the sand lines up. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom. Check around for some peaks at the rest of the beach as well.
What are the best surf conditions for Escolleras?
Gets good between waist-high (about 3.3 feet) and double overhead (about 12.3 feet). We recommend riding a shortboard then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will get very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round as water temperatures fluctuate between 26°C (79°F) and 30°C (86°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
