Located in Northern Baja, Mexico, Dunes is a not-so-good but empty beach break that offers up some alright sections when the conditions line up. The waves are easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Good for beginners and not really much else.
What are the best surf conditions for Dunes?
Gets good between waist-high and head-high. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best as water temperatures plunge to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
