Located in Los Cabos, Baja Mexico, Costa Azul is an excellent right-hand reef that offers up some amazing barrels when the conditions line up. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock and sand bottom. Locals here will almost never let a wave through, Good luck!
What are the best surf conditions for Costa Azul?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and or a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will have a very competitive and selfish crowd (8/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South, Southeast, and Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures rise to 29 in the summer and drop only to 21 in the summer. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
