On the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Port Fairy is a mediocre beach break over a sandy bottom. The waves here are pretty mellow and can break up to 50 meters. These waves provide great sections for beginners to learn on or longboarders to cruise on.
What are the best surf conditions for Point Fairy?
Gets good between waist high and overhead. These waves are perfect for a laid back surf on a longboard or fish. The surf is best suited for beginners learning, or anyone that wants to escape the intense high-performance waves to the East. The surf here is pretty consistent (7/10) and can get busy on weekends and holidays (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast, it works on all tides, and the best swell direction is South.
We recommend a 3/2 in the summer with the warmest temperature a nippy 16 degrees in February. In winter you’ll need a 4/3 for the 12-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
